The decision to participate in the Frank to Schanck Adventure 2024 (incl. associated training walks) is entirely my own and I understand that walking in an outdoor environment is a potentially hazardous activity with inherent risks of injury or even death from various potential causes, including but not limited to crossing roads and walking on uneven, rocky surfaces and under prevailing weather conditions.
I am aware of the hazards involved and engage in the activity at my own risk.
I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to notify the event organiser of any Medical Conditions, Allergies and/or Medications and Emergency Contact details.
I attest that I am physically fit prior to undertaking the Frank to Schanck Adventure (2024) and that I am not aware of any undisclosed illness, injury, physical disability or impairment that may cause me injury or death during, or because of, my participation.
I acknowledge the WSP’s advice to arrange ambulance cover in case of emergency and consider personal accident insurance cover for any unforeseen loss, damage, or injury that may arise out of or in connection with participating in the event.
I acknowledge that I am solely responsible for ensuring adequate training has been completed, an appropriate level of fitness obtained, and that medical clearance may be required if I have underlying health issues.
I agree to provide a doctor’s certificate if the WSP deem that I need medical clearance to participate based on any physical conditions that might be brought to the team’s attention either during training or by me during the registration process.
I accept all risks, dangers and liabilities that may result from my participation in the Frank to Schanck Adventure (2024) including, but not limited to, property loss or damage, loss of life or permanent injury.
I consent to receive medical treatment which may be deemed necessary in the event of my injury/accident/illness during the Event. I understand that treatment requested from first aid personnel is at my own risk and that details will be forwarded to event organisers.
I agree, in consideration of and, as a condition of acceptance of my entry in the Frank to Schanck Adventure (2024) for myself, my heirs, executors and/or administrators, to hereby waive all and any claim, right or cause of action which could, would or might arise out of my death or injury, damage, loss or expense of any description whatsoever that I may suffer or sustain in the course of, or consequent upon my entry or participation in the Event or as a result of any acts or omissions, their authorised representatives or any other party involved in the Frank to Schanck Adventure (2024).
I accept this waiver, release and discharge shall be (and operate separately) in favour of all persons, corporations and bodies involved, or otherwise engaged in promotion or staging the Frank to Schanck Adventure (2024) (including but not limited to the Women’s Spirit Project). - Fail to accept the terms of the Risk Waiver before participating.
3. CANCELLATION POLICY
In the event The Women’s Spirit Project is prevented (directly or indirectly) from performing any of its obligations under this agreement by reason of an Australian government agency declaring restrictions on the region where the Frank to Schanck Event Adventure (2024) is to operate, lockdowns preventing participation in the event or state border closures preventing participants from travelling from interstate to the event location, minimum booking numbers not being reached or any other associated reason, which is beyond the reasonable control of The Women’s Spirit Project, The Women’s Spirit Project will provide a full refund. Alternatively, participants can opt for funds to be held in credit to be carried over for the next Frank to Schanck Event or equivalent 3-day walking event or nominate any fees paid to be donated to the organisation.
4. INCLEMENT WEATHER OR OTHER CONDITIONS
Frank to Schanck will operate regardless of weather conditions, except in the case of lightning or electrical storms making the event unsafe, or where there is weather considered to be unsafe by the WSP or if for any reason conditions are such that WSP’s insurance would be void or voided should the event proceed. WSP may choose a suitable alternate venue or route. The route or venue may not be the same as proposed if it is deemed unsafe, but the WSP will use reasonable endeavours to find a suitable alternative. This may include changes to the timing, distance, and location of the event.
In the event the walk is unable to proceed because of a bush fire or extreme weather conditions, the WSP will transfer the walk to another date, if possible.
5. REFUND POLICY
Registration fees are non-refundable, as many of the costs and fees are preparatory and are incurred from before I register through to the event commencing. I acknowledge as a registered participant that if I need to withdraw from the Event (2024) due to extenuating circumstances, (and upon presentation of a valid medical certificate, where applicable), that a partial refund may ONLY be provided at the discretion of WSP Management. Where it is determined a refund shall be offered, I acknowledge a $100 administration fee will be deducted from any refund provided.
I can arrange to transfer my registration to another walker prior to the cut-off date, providing they complete the full registration form and sign these terms & conditions prior to the event.
6. DURING THE EVENT
All event distances have a time limit to keep participants on track. No one should walk alone for safety purposes. All walkers must follow the route outlined by WSP and not detour from the route by more than 50 metres at any time. If you do not follow the route as outlined by WSP, you will do so at your own risk. If you do not reach check in points within the allocated time limit, you may need to be transferred to the next check-in point, or to the finish line, by a support vehicle.
If the WSP deem the course unsafe (for example by reason of heavy rain, high winds, bushfires, ‘acts of god’) we may, at our sole discretion, re-route the course, find an alternative shortened course or cancel the event.
If you suffer a non-life-threatening injury during the event, you must alert a WSP team member and / or call the Emergency number. Event First Aider/s will render assistance as soon as possible. In case of an emergency (e.g. serious/ life-threatening injury, bush fire etc) you must call 000 immediately.
You should carry a small day pack and aim to be self-sufficient for the duration of the event, topping up food and water en-route as required. Make sure you have plenty of water. You MUST carry a minimum of 2 litres, regardless of the event distance.
I acknowledge that I am responsible for my personal possessions and equipment during the Event.
